Mount Royal University, Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts

Mount Royal University’s Conservatory offers non-credit performance-based instruction to students and musicians from the greater Calgary community. The 700-seat Bella Concert Hall, ensemble studios, and practice rooms are all associated with outreach programming, serving over 30,000 students ranging from toddlers enrolled in “Music with Your Baby” and Suzuki piano courses for young children, to solo instruction for students and adults of all ages. The Conservatory is one of the largest community music schools in North America and its capital campaign has relied on the resources of the Canadian government as well as private donors who have responded generously to the institution’s ambitious business plan. Auerbach Pollock Friedlander provided theatre consulting services for the project.

Located on the school’s Lincoln Park campus, The Conservatory is part of a six-phase expansion program that started in 2001 to increase student enrollment. Mount Royal University currently has a student body of more than 12,000 full- and part-time credit students.

The new Conservatory building will be a focal point of the University’s expanded campus.
