Linfield College, Kenneth W. Ford Hall
Auerbach Pollock Friedlander worked closely with BOORA Architects, campus planners and faculty in preparation of a master plan to provide new facilities for the College’s nascent performing arts departments. Limited resources and the availability of nearby commercial structures led to a concept that moved the theatre department from its cramped, archaic space, into a thoroughly customized adaptive reuse of Hewlett-Packard’s former local corporate headquarters. Although music facilities were eliminated due to funding limitations at the time, the repurposing of the Hewlett-Packard building into a flexible black box space known as the Marshal Theatre with production shops, instructional space and dressing rooms, has given the College’s theatre students appropriate creative space to work and learn in.
