Drew School, Samuel M. Cuddeback III Assembly Wing

Located in the prestigious neighborhood of Pacific Heights, Drew School is a co-educational college preparatory institution known for its high academic standards. The private school accommodates 280 students every year.

Auerbach Pollock Friedlander was the theatre designer, technical and audio-video consultant for the Samuel M. Cuddeback III Assembly Wing – a 325-seat multi-purpose, state-of-the-art performance and assembly space with retractable seating, stretch wire grid, flexible staging, additional classrooms and faculty workspaces. Featuring a vertical garden and living roof designed by Patrick Blanc, the Cuddeback Wing is designed to LEED Gold specifications.

Planning this highly flexible space brought unique challenges: to integrate it with the existing building, open to a courtyard and respect the adjacency to the residential neighborhood. A strong collaboration with ROMA Design Group proved very effective.
