Clovis Veterans Memorial District Center

Rex Phebus Veterans Memorial Building

The Rex Phebus Veterans Memorial Building, located in Fresno County’s city of Clovis, is unique – a free-standing, locally-funded facility that is directed to support the community’s large veteran population. The District’s primary goal, to create quality meeting and presentation space, was presented to the project team with the charge that facilities must be easy to use and maintain, while keeping utility and cost as the foremost requirement. Although the project began with the vision of a full production theatre and support facilities, significant time spent with local producers and the local VA leadership re-directed efforts to make the best conferencing and social gathering facilities possible. Auerbach Pollock Friedlander provided theatre and audio-video consulting for the new 350-seat auditorium in coordination with a ballroom expansion to the existing conference facilities. With a new formal entry and quality flexible and fixed meeting space, the Central Valley’s veterans’ community has a regional gathering place that it can call its own.
