Cabrillo College, Visual and Performing Arts Village

Cabrillo College, Visual and Performing Arts Village

The eight-acre Visual and Performing Arts Village serves as Cabrillo’s lower arts campus with five buildings that house studios, music teaching spaces, music performance facilities and full academic theatre production facilities. Auerbach Pollock Friedlander provided theatre consulting for the programming, planning and design for all the performing and fine arts facilities including the 2D and 3D art studios, 577-seat Crocker Theater, 200-seat Black Box Theater, the Forum (a 250-seat arts and media presentation facility) as well as a new music department building with a 369-seat recital hall and practice rooms. The design team, working within the usual constraints of economic pressures, created a campus of understated, yet elegant, design that is beloved by its users and recognized as the standard for performing and fine arts facilities training in Santa Cruz County.
