Borgata Hotel and Casino
When advising on all aspects of theatre design, including layout of public spaces, backstage support facilities, seating, audience circulation, theatrical lighting, rigging, video and communications systems for The Borgata, Auerbach Pollock Friedlander was presented with the challenge of designing three very different, distinctive venues within one property-the 30,000-square-foot multi-form Event Center Ballroom, the 1000-seat Music Box Theatre, and the Mixx Restaurant Night Club.
In The Ballroom, which subdivides into four smaller function rooms, Auerbach Pollock Friedlander developed the seating configurations, including riser systems to provide raked seating for large-scale end-stage performances. The firm also designed stage performance systems, motorized overhead rigging systems and the central control system for theatrical equipment. The end result provides a state-of-the art venue for music acts that also serves as a sophisticated flat-floor space for catered events.
The fixed-proscenium Music Box Theatre was designed with motorized overhead rigging, central control system for theatrical equipment, performance lighting, and audio-video systems to host concerts, music reviews and standup comedy in a more intimate setting.
Also, in Mixx, Auerbach Pollock Friedlander developed the entertainment rigging system, club and performance lighting systems and audio-video systems, allowing conversion from a sophisticated restaurant setting into a nightclub with state-of-the-art sound and lighting effects for after dinner service.
