Dropbox Headquarters

Dropbox, Inc. headquarters, located in the Mission Bay neighborhood of San Francisco, was the largest single tenant lease in the history of the City at the time of construction. The project encompassed four side-by-side, interconnected, commercial mid-rise buildings, each with a distinctive architectural presence. The interior design and lighting unifies the work environment between buildings, fosters collaboration, and supports a sense of neighborhood communities.

Open office zones utilize direct/indirect low glare light fixtures. The fixtures were chosen in a full scale on-site mockup of three top products. Conference rooms use indirect only fixtures to maximum vertical light on faces and minimize glare.

The project has many “neighborhoods.” Some are designed with a hospitality lighting aesthetic such as the dining area and café. Other spaces are designed with lighting that enhances amenities such as meditation spaces, deep focus “quiet rooms,” wellness areas, game rooms, and lounges/pantries.

Special spaces are theatrical in nature. One company favorite for after hours karaoke is known as “The Mint,” which is an homage to the local bar frequented by the founders in their startup days.

The lighting for the Dropbox Headquarters meets stringent energy code requirements and complies with LEED Gold standards.

Two levels of commissary and dining also double as an all-hands meeting place. The lighting has a hospitality aesthetic with theatrical lighting mixed in to accommodate presentations.
