Cineteca Nacional Del Siglo XXI

Cineteca Nacional de Mexico, The National Film Archives of Mexico, is part of the National Council for Culture and the Arts of the Mexican Federal Government. Its Department of Collections is responsible for preserving the cultural heritage of the nation’s cinema in a growing collection of videographic and iconographic artifacts.

The architectural enclosure frames and organizes the four new auditoriums with the existing six remodeled auditoriums, providing for coherent audience flow.

Description

The new auditoriums are similar, differing only in projection formats fitted. All auditoriums include a fore-stage used for Director interviews, panel discussions, and similar events related to screenings. All large auditoriums include variable screen masking to configure to any aspect ratio. Depending on the auditorium, three to five screen sound channels are fitted. All include sub-woofers. One auditorium is fitted for screening 3D Digital Cinema.

Among all the auditoriums at Cineteca, the facility can exhibit any moving image and sound format that has been used in the history of Mexico. Projection formats include DCI, DCI 3D, video in any contemporary or historic format, 35mm dual-machine changeover, 35mm platter, 16mm dual-machine changeover, and 8mm. The mechanical image machines are equipped with sound readers to support any applicable contemporary or historic sound format. The surround loudspeaker systems are segmented and processed to support historical as well as contemporary exhibition formats.
