Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space

Founded in 1986, the Manhattan Class Company (MCC), produced theater for more than 30 years in of multiple locations in New York City but never had a home of their own.

With the opening of the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space, the theater company has consolidated performances, offices and educational programs into one location. The facility includes the 245-seat Newman Mills Theater and the 99-seat Susan & Ronald Frankel Theater in the base of a mixed-use residential tower.

Working with MCC’s trio of Artistic Directors, administration and Architect Andrew Berman, Apeiro Design developed solutions to add capacity to the theater spaces in an existing core and shell that had originally been developed for another theater company. By adding a balcony to the Newman Mills Theater, Apeiro provided a means for MCC to scale the capacity to various projects. The two well-equipped performance spaces permit MCC to develop a variety of offerings and augment already excellent production values.
