As part of a comprehensive renovation, Apeiro Design developed a new broadcast lighting layout and broadcast and architectural lighting control system, as well as a rigging system for new architectural pendant lighting in the nave.

The team began design in February of 2017. Removing outdated lighting fixtures that had been applied to various surfaces over the years, and concealing new technology was a priority in the historic building. Working closely with the architects and engineers we developed small openings in side-aisle ceiling vaults to conceal broadcast lighting equipment.

Part of the new architectural lighting system were ten immense pendant lighting fixtures in the nave, each weighing 500 pounds. New automated hoists to lift the fixtures were designed for installation in the wood framed attic, in close collaboration with the team’s structural engineers. The elevation of the pendants can be adjusted depending on the size and type of event being held in the church.

The firm also assisted Trinity Church with audio system upgrades in 2021-2022 after the main renovation project was completed.
