Pixar Animation Studios - The Steve Jobs Building

The Steve Jobs Building on the campus of the famous animation studio was the first purpose-built building on the Pixar campus. Anchoring the campus complex, the Jobs Building includes three screening theatres, conference facilities, offices, café, lounge and central atrium.

The contemporary industrial aesthetic is established through the design vocabulary of bead blasted steel, hand laid brick and exposed tongue and groove structural spruce deck. The design team included CEO Steve Jobs and required total team collaboration.

The inviting Atrium and adjacent public spaces are the pulse of the building. Floating steel bridges and stairs are silhouetted against illuminated brick walls. Truss mounted theatrical fixtures downlight the 30 foot atrium and indirect uplights internally illuminate enclosed offices.

Rotating artwork fills the Conference Center requiring a flexible lighting solution with minimal ceiling penetrations. Decorative pendants punctuate the corridor with sparkle and human scale.
