A 2016 bond issue funded the project, which also included a separate STEAM classroom building. In addition to the 450-seat theater, the building includes a green room, office space, a conference room, and a drama classroom that doubles as a black box theater using a small telescopic seating unit. The original auditorium was razed in 2019 to make way for the STEAM building. Upon completion of that project, the adjacent administration building was demolished allowing the new auditorium construction to begin. Pandemic-related supply chain issues required Apeiro Design to work with the project team to develop alternative solutions allowing the project to be completed.

Like similar spaces at schools across the country, the theater is used frequently for different performance types; maximizing the space’s flexibility was emphasized throughout the design. Although the stage ceiling height is limited, motorized hoists for orchestra shell ceilings, general purpose battens as well as theatrical lighting battens over the stage and front of house, allow equipment access from below. Removable seats create space at the front of the stage to accommodate a small orchestra.
