Agua Caliente Casino, "The Show" Concert Theatre
Rancho Mirage, California

Auerbach Pollock Friedlander collaborated with Delawie Wilkes Rodriguez and Barker on the 2,018-seat multi-use headliner room “The Show” at the Agua Caliente Casino providing full scope theatre and audio-video consulting for the project.

“The Show” was designed specifically for rock music in the style of a traditional large performing arts center theatre, complete with multi-level lobbies and VIP amenities. Auerbach Pollock Friedlander developed plans for the stage and backstage facilities, as well as the audience chamber configuration, including all seating and VIP areas for the venue. In addition to rock concerts, “The Show” is designed to host televised Ultimate Fighting Championship matches, stand-up comedy, fashion shows, dining and other special events.

The owner required a first class intimate concert experience for general admission patrons as well as those seated in luxury suites. The result is an intimate, yet comfortable venue with steep sightlines and reduced viewing distances. A flexible, flat floor seating area in front of the stage extends playing zones for musicians, runways, fight rings and pasaralles. The sightlines to much of that area had to be excellent. Access for rigging over the flat floor audience and stage area takes a cue from the arena business, where high steel, permanent fall protection and chain hoists afford riggers great flexibility.

The facility provides convenient accommodation of video and audio live recording and production. Auerbach Pollock Friedlander designed a flexible audio infrastructure system allowing for either analog or digital audio connection from a guest house mixing console to the facility loudspeaker system, audio program monitor/paging systems, wired and wireless intercom systems, and assistive listening systems.

The house video systems consist of an image magnification (IMAG) system, video production live switching systems, a video post-production editing system, lobby and front of house agile signage systems, and video show progress monitoring displays.

The firm designed the theatrical lighting control and distribution to incorporate both the most advanced technology available and to allow for future technological advancements over the system’s life. A full complement of moving and concert lighting fixtures and are provided to support concert design needs.
