Space Center Houston
Houston, Texas

This 190,000 square foot building is the visitors center for the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Off of the large main plaza are an 870mm film theater, a 570mm film theater, a "live" format theater sharing direct communication between Houston Mission Control and space shuttle crews, and an interactive exhibit area. Beyond the 570mm film theater is a walk through exhibit area which displays historic space artifacts related to the manned space program, moon rock samples and a diorama of a simulated moonscape. Both the exhibit lighting and the architectural lighting for all public spaces of this dramatic project were by Auerbach Glasow French. The project was awarded Edwin F. Guth Citation Award by the IESNA.
