CY EATON, LC, ASSOCIATE IALD
Cy Eaton joined the lighting design team at Auerbach Glasow French in 2004, bringing with him theatrical lighting experience, as well as a research background in lighting sustainability and psychology.
While at Auerbach Glasow French, he has designed lighting for the Vancouver International Airport, West Chevron Expansion; Winnipeg International Airport; Levi’s Retail Stores, 2006 Build Out Program; David Brower Center; Casa de las Campanas; University of California, Riverside Material Sciences and Engineering Building; and Epic Systems Corporation Conference Center.
Prior to joining Auerbach Glasow French, Mr. Eaton’s design work included collaboration on international architectural lighting projects and dozens of theatrical productions and public light art installations. Mr. Eaton discovered his passion for lighting early, and studied lighting design at Whitman College, where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Theatre and Psychology. While working on his psychology thesis on human-light interactions, he developed an interest in architectural lighting and lighting research, which lead to an internship with a respected lighting design firm in New York City, and subsequently to his graduate studies and research work at the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His research involved the human response to colored light, daylighting control techniques and the evaluation of dark sky ratings for exterior fixtures.
Mr. Eaton is a facilitator for the IESNA’s LC prep course and an active member of the San Francisco film and theatre communities.
