E. SARA MCBARNETTE, IESNA, LC, ASSOCIATE IALD
Associate
E. Sara McBarnette joined the lighting design team at Auerbach Glasow French in 1999 bringing with her a solid background in design and lighting acquired while working on projects throughout the USA and abroad. At Auerbach Glasow French she has designed and managed numerous projects including the Presidio National Park Main Parade Ground, Toledo Museum of Art Exterior Renovation and Expansion, the Vallejo Waterfront Master Plan, the Wilson/Equity Office 1st & Howard commercial building complex, the Marin Community Foundation Offices, and the San Jose Greater Downtown Exterior Streetscape Lighting Masterplan.
Ms. McBarnette developed an interest in lighting while working as a stagehand in the Ram's Head Theatrical Society during her undergraduate years at Stanford University. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Product Design Engineering, she decided to concentrate on lighting and enrolled in the Parsons School of Design program in Architectural Lighting from which she earned her Masters of Fine Arts degree. Her strengths in technical knowledge and design sensitivity are the result of both educational backgrounds.
Awarded an IALD internship position as a graduate student, Ms. McBarnette was then invited to work with a distinguished lighting design firm in New York, where she soon became a permanent member of their design team. There she worked on a wide range of projects, some of which have won great acclaim, such as The Ronald Reagan Building, Washington, D.C.; McCormick Place, Chicago, Illinois; and Grand Central Terminal, New York, New York. She holds a Lighting Certification (LC) from the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions.
