Principal

Larry French has had extensive experience in the design and management of architectural lighting projects. Some of his projects include the historic renovations of the War Memorial Opera House and Asian Art Museum and in San Francisco, California; Epic Systems Corporation Conference Center in Madison, Wisconsin; Zumanity, Another Side of Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas, Nevada; MGM Grand, KÀ™ for Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas, Nevada; the Space Center Houston NASA Visitor's Center in Houston, Texas; Copia: The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts in Napa, California; Carnegie Hall - Judy and Arthur Zankel Hall in New York City; Williams-Sonoma Post Street in San Francisco, California; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Wrightsman Galleries in New York City; the Vancouver Airport International Terminal Building in British Columbia; the Winnipeg International Airport in Manitoba, Canada; and Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, California. His work has included many other large public space interiors, commercial offices, exhibit and retail spaces, residences and restaurants.

Mr. French attended University of California, Davis and Southern Methodist University. He also trained at the Banff School of Fine Arts and has participated in master's seminars with noted Czech scenographer Josef Svoboda. Mr. French is among the first individuals to have been awarded the National Opera Institute's Grant for Design, given in 1976.

Prior to joining Auerbach Glasow French in 1988, Mr. French had gathered comprehensive experience as a theatrical lighting designer. Accumulated over a 15 year period, his design work included affiliations with the San Francisco Opera Company, Seattle Opera Company, Berkeley Repertory Theater, Washington Opera Company, and the Lyric Opera of Chicago, to name a few. He has also toured in Europe for the Netherlands Opera and in China for the Washington Ballet.

Mr. French has been a frequent guest speaker at industry conferences and seminars, and has received numerous lighting design awards, including top honors from the IESNA International Illumination Design Awards and International Association of Lighting Designers awards program. He also holds a Lighting Certification (LC) from the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions.
