ROBERT HILL
Robert Hill recently joined Auerbach Pollock Friedlander’s San Francisco office as project manager, senior consultant and designer. He brings more than fifteen years of technical theatre experience to the firm, including lighting direction and supervision for more than 100 operas in the United States and Japan.
Mr. Hill spent seven years at the San Francisco Opera, the second largest opera company in the United States. He was the company’s lighting director for three years and responsible for all aspects of lighting production from day to day operations to budget and staff management and special effects supervision. He also assisted in the recent lighting and theatre renovations of the War Memorial Opera House.
Previous experience also includes lighting supervision for productions for the Houston Grand Opera, the Alley Theatre in Houston, SF Jazz in San Francisco and for theme rides at MCA/Universal with Ruzika Co. in Wakayam, Japan and Landmark Entertainment in Los Angeles.
Mr. Hill graduated with a B.A. in theatre design from the University of Illinois in 1987 with highest honors and has completed masters studies in theatre design in production at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts.
