As Auerbach Pollock Friedlander’s principal sound, A/V and multimedia systems specialist, Paul Garrity brings over thirty years of international consulting experience to the firm. His projects range from modest sound systems for community college theatres to multi million dollar sound and communication systems. Mr. Garrity has designed systems for theatres, casino/hotel showrooms, conference centers, sports arenas, planetariums and other special performance venues. His expertise encompasses sound reinforcement systems, video projection and distribution, production communication and paging, infrared assistive-listening, simultaneous interpretation, show control, data distribution and recording and broadcast systems design and infrastructure.

Since joining Auerbach Pollock Friedlander’s New York office, Mr. Garrity’s design work includes the sound, video and communications systems for the revolutionary 3D Digital Dome at the Hayden Planetarium, Rose Center for Earth and Space, Museum of Natural History in New York City; New York New York Hotel and Casino, Zumanity: Another Side of Cirque du Soleil; MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, KÀ™ for Cirque du Soleil; MGM Mirage, Showroom for Cirque du Soleil; the renovation of the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall; University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music; and the University of Maryland Performing Arts Center. Other projects include IBM’s “Solutions for a Small Planet” exhibit at the Epcot Center; the Philadelphia Academy of Music; the War Memorial Auditorium in Trenton, New Jersey; the Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center; and Chicago’s Symphony Center.

Before joining Auerbach Pollock Friedlander, Mr. Garrity worked on projects at the International Convention Center in Birmingham, England; the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark; the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas; and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival theatres.

Mr. Garrity previously worked with major theatre companies throughout the U.S. as a theatrical sound designer and production sound engineer.

Mr. Garrity has presented numerous technical papers, has lectured extensively and published a monthly column in Sound, Video and Communications Magazine. He serves as an Instructor of Electro-Acoustics at the Yale School of Drama. Mr. Garrity was recognized as Sound Designer of the Year at the 2004 Entertainment Technology Show (LDI).

Paul Garrity received his B.F.A. in Theatre Production/Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
